    In this paper, the LED down light the with type of protection of intrinsic safety and optical radiation explosion-proof was studied for the use of industrial hazardous areas of zone 0. At first, fixture design was executed, and then prototype of the luminaire with 6 inches in diameter was fabricated. Finally lighting and explosion-proof characteristics were measured and then analyzed.
    It was measured to be 564lm of total luminous flux, 91lm/W of luminous efficiency, 85 of CRI and 5,700K of CCT at 24V and 0.240A of applied voltage and current, respectively. It was satisfied the certification criteria for ‘Ex op is’ explosion-proof characteristics by versatile tests, such as optical irradiance test, and T6 class with surface temperature of 36.20℃.
    As a result of this study, prototype of the LED down light was designed and developed to have intrinsic safety and optical radiation of explosion-proof level and 6W class of power consumption.
