This study is to explore the direction of developing future music textbooks for middle and high school in accordance with the direction of the recently announced revised 2022 basic music curriculum, based on a review of the internal system of the current middle and high school music textbooks based on the 2015 revised special education music curriculum. The 2022 revised special education music curriculum has shifted its points from focusing on nurturing creative convergence talents to a curriculum tailored to individual growth with the goal of cultivating future special capabilities. The middle and high school music textbooks to be developed must be those that realize the purpose of the 2022 revised special education music curriculum. However, in terms of the internal composition system, the items of the current special middle and high school music textbooks do not sufficiently reflect the aim of the revised curriculum. Accordingly, it is necessary to develop new middle and high school music textbooks with an integrated approach that complements the problems of current textbooks and reflects the needs of the revised curriculum. In the course of developing the middle and high school music textbooks, more systematic and continuous basic research must be accompanied.
