동북아 공동체 형성의 인식론적 장애 요인: 한국에서의 반일 반중 의식 = Perceptual Barriers to the Creation of a Northeast Asian Community: Anti-Japanism and Anti-Sinoism in Korea

Assuming that the dissolution of perceptual barriers, including anti-Japanism and anti-Sinoism, is a prerequisite for regional cooperation and the creation of a regional community in Northeast Asia, this study examines the origins of Koreans' negative attitudes toward China and Japan.
It analyzes the ‘Global View 2006’ survey to show that prior theories, relying on jealousy, ideology, and threats, have very limited explanatory power. This study evinces that normative resources of soft power have the critical reduction impact on Koreans' negative attitudes toward those two neighboring countries. Finally, the author claims that the origins of inter-state animosity are not monotonous and that prescriptions should be issued based on its historical context.
