한국 유교와 기독교의 공동체윤리 = Communitarianism in Korean Context

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 한국의 유교공동체가 가진 가치관의 기본구조와 기독교의 공동체윤리의 기본구조를 비교하면서 한국의 문화상황에서 두 가지 공동체윤리가 서로 맞물려 있는 현실태를 드러내는데 목적이 있다. 먼저 필자는 한국 유교공동체의 윤리를 유교적 통(統)의식으로 파악한다. 유교의 통의식은 사물의 통일과 질서를 가능하게 해주는 포괄적 규범으로서 가족과 교육과 국가의 모든 영역에서 일관된 통합을 담보해주는 원리로 작용했다. 이러한 근거에서 유교 공동체의 윤리는 혈연중심의 가족에서 출발하여 공평무사한 대동(大同)공동체로 나갈 수 있다는 이상주의를 제시했다. 그러나 실제의 유교의 공동체윤리는 가족주의와 대동사회의 이념 사이에 현저한 갈등과 불일치를 드러냈다. 유교공동체는 이 갈등을 해결할 초월적인 가치를 결여하고 있는 것으로 보인다.
반면에 기독교의 공동체 윤리는 절대자와의 언약 공동체의 성격 때문에 예수 그리스도를 고백하는 모든 사람에게 평등하고 공평한 공동체의 가능성을 열어 주었다. 그러나 한국의 기독교공동체는 유교공동체가 당면했던 것처럼 기독교의 보편적이고 초월적인 가치와 유교적인 가족주의와 권위주의의 가치 사이에 몹시 갈등하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 한국의 기독교공동체가 유교공동체가 가지고 있었던 자기모순과 한계를 극복할 때, 명실 공히 새로운 공동체윤리를 한국의 사회와 역사에 제시하고 실현할 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this essay I tried to explain the fundamental structure of the Confucian Community through the principle of Tong(統). This principle is a inclusive norm which makes all the unity and order possible, and provides the unity between the family, education and nation. On the ground of the principle of Tong(統) the ethics of the Confucian Community could go forth from the family to the Community of Daedong(大同). But it is the historical experience that the Confucian Community suffers under the conflicts between the ethos of family and Daedong society. It seems to me that the Confucian Community could not solve this question.
But the Christian community opens the possibility of the community in which equality and justice are respected. the Christian community in Korea struggles against a dilemma. The principle of Christian ethics can provide the universal ethos, but is influenced of the family ethos of Confucianism. If the Christian community in Korea will overcome this self-contradiction, it can be realize the new community ethos in Korea.
