The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of age and sex on self-esteem and locus of control, and the relations between self-esteem and locus of control.
The subjects of this study were 287 children 10 and 12 years of age attending the elementary school in Pusan.
Instruments used in this study were Self-Esteem Inventory(Kim, kyung-yeon, 1987) and Locus of Control Scale for Children(Nowicki & Strickland, 1973).
The data of this study was analyzed with Two-way ANOVA and Pearson's correlation.
The major finding was as follows.
(1) Self-esteem decreased with age.
(2) No sex difference is found in self-esteem.
(3) No age difference is found in locus of control.
(4) No sex difference is found in locus of control.
(5) Significant correlations is found between self-esteem and locus of control.
