효과적인 다문화교육 실천을 위한 학교 교육과정 개발 = School Curriculum Development for Implementation of Effective Multicultural Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this research is to provide school teachers and educators with a model of school curriculum development to be used for objectives of multicultural education. To do so, essential knowledge and ideas in four areas are identified and discussed; (1) educational objectives, (2) educational content, (3) instructional method, and (4) learner evaluations. These areas were drawn from a critical summary and analysis of previous literature on multicultural education both in the foreign countries and in South Korea. In addition, a new checklist was developed based on the new model in order to show how it can be used in the future at a school curriculum level as school teacher``s self-evaluation process to develop better multicultural schools. Since this model shows educators an entire process of multicultural school curriculum development, it enables them to understand practical issues and strategies of multicultural education at school level within the broad picture of curriculum development and, therefore, to improve the problems of the current approach, which is characterized by students`` activities and cultural programs.
