살풀이춤을 이용한 무용창작 연구 = A Study on Creative Dance by the Exorcism Dance(Salpuri)

This study was performed for defining the properties shown in stylistic aspects of the Exorcism Dance on the basis of several previous studies, and complementing defects in the existing studies concerned. As an initiate of the Leemaebang-type Exorcism Dance, the Korean intangible cultural asses NO. 97, I attempt to focus on stylistic parts of the Leemaebang Exorcism Dance whose importance has been recognized while I personally has experienced and taught.
Today, the movement properties shown in the Exorcism Dance, which has been maked as one of the best Korean traditional dances, are greatly acknowledged as an essential training process to students and as a movement essence to dance artists engaged in creative works.
Therefore, this study tries to examine relish and merriment of this dance that requires natural movements including the characteristic elements - meanings of the Exorcism music and cloth required for the Exorcism Dance, how to breathe and dynamics of actions according to the Exorcism Dance movement, flow of strength and the rule of making steps - of movements required when both dance artists and dancing students master the Exorcism Dance.
I expect that this study will contribute to showing a good direction for the future Creative dance as well as become a necessary work to cherish the traditional spirit of Korean Dance.
