The objectives of the thesis were to find out what motivated people to water sport, scuba diving activities and to clarity the multi-dimensional cause structure of them. The thesis also examined closely if participants in these activities perceived the areas of motivation differently according to their sex, level of participation or their perception of the importance level. 1) The areas of motivation were classified into 5 categories - education, cleanup, harmony, challenge, and health/ physical strength motivation categories. 2) The result of analyzing the importances of these areas of motivation sain that the most important category was to experience a new thing, the second was to look interesting, the third to explore an unknown world, the fourth to be a good chance to learn. 3) The result of analyzing the importances of these areas said that statistically, sex didn't make any difference. 4) The result of analyzing the importances of these areas said that statistically, participation level didn't make any difference. 5) The group which attached a high level of importance to the leisure side of the sport, laid more stress on education, cleanup, and challenge motivation than the groups which attached a mid to low level of importance to it.
