부모와 청소년자녀 간에 요청화행 시 나타나는 공손성과 불손에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 부모와 청소년 자녀사이의 요청화행 시 나타나는 공손전략과 불손전략에 관한 연구로써 상호간에 이상적인 의사소통방식을 모색하는 것이다. 이를 알아보기 위하여 본 연구는 EBS TV 프로그램 ‘부모가 달라졌어요’의 담화를 2012년 4월 9일에서 2012년 8월20일까지 방영된 총20편 중 에서 부모와 자녀 20쌍의 요청화행이 나타난 담화내용자료를 수집하여 분석 자료로 활용하였다. 요청화행은 부모와 청소년 자녀와의 의사소통 중 자녀가 부모와의 대화 중 반박에 이어 거절까지의 화행이 가장 많이 발생하며 대화 단절의 주된 원인으로 작용하여 바람직한 의사소통을 저해하기 때문이다. 또한 이렇게 수집된 분석 자료는 Brown & Levinson(1987)의 체면유지의 개념을 체면공격의 개념으로 발전시킨 Culpeper(2009)의 5가지의 불손 유형들, 즉 위협과 순응을 위한 명시적 표현의 불손, 청자에게 적극적으로 체면을 위협하는 적극적 불손, 청자에게 소극적으로 체면을 위협하는 소극적 불손, 불성실한 조소, 조롱, 비꼼등의 간접표현 및 거짓공손에 해당되는 불손, 마지막으로 공손을 나타내지 않는 침묵등을 토대로 분석하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해서 부모가 자녀에게 요청화행을 할 때 공손전략을 사용함에도 불구하고 자녀는 왜 불손전략으로 반응하는지의 원인은 규명할 수 있었다. 더불어 이러한 Culpeper의 불손전략이 부모와 자녀 각각 어느 부분에서 더욱 뚜렷하게 나타나는지를 살펴보고 자녀의 불손화행 전략은 부모의 공손전략과 어떤 연관성이 있는지 알아보았다. 더 나아가 이와 같은 분석 결과는 부모와 자녀간의 원만한 의사소통관계를 위한 언어 화행론적인 원칙을 제시하고 부모와 자녀의 대립적 화행갈등 관계를 이상적인 관계로 형성시키기 위하여 요청, 지시화행이라는 대화맥락을 사용한 화행원리로써 제안하는 데 강조점을 두고 있다.

The purpose of this study is to explore an ideal communication method based on politeness and impoliteness strategy as parents and their children communicate with request speech act. In order to investigate it, this study collected discourse data aired on 부모가 달라졌어요 of EBS TV Programs from 9th. April. 2012 to 20th August 2012 and Analyzed them. And it chose 20 pairs of them.
Request in speech act is the most common occurrence of contradiction and refusal appeared in course of communicating between parents and their children. Also, it affects on a main cause to conversational breakdown and finally interferes with desirable communication between them.
On this study, these collected analytic data applied to five impoliteness types in Culpepper(2009) such as overt impoliteness for threats and compliance, positive impoliteness for aggressively face-threatening to the hearer, negative impoliteness,
unfaithful ridicule, mockery which is equivalent to indirect expression and impoliteness related to false politeness and silence that does not represent politely.
Through these processes, this study investigated thoroughly the reason that children use impoliteness strategy, in spite of using parent's politeness strategy when parents communicate with their children.
