충남 당진군 송악면 고대리 안섬 당제의 실상과 활로 모색

국문 초록 (Abstract)

안섬은 충남 당진군 송악면 고대리의 해안에 위치한 섬마을로 130여 가구에 400여명의 주민이 거주한다. 이곳은 석문국가공단, 한보철강단지, 고대공단 등이 들어서며 방조제가 가설되어 육지가 되었다. 섬이 내륙으로 변모하면서 항구 또한 폐쇄되어 주민들의 생업이 어업에서 농업이나 상업 등으로 전환되었다.
안섬 당제의 준비과정은 제관선정, 비용마련, 제장정비와 제수준비, 뱃기제작으로 이루어진다. 제의진행은 본제와 장승제ㆍ용왕제 지신밟기의 순이다. 당산에서의 제의진행은 제물진설→당주의 헌주배례→선주의 배례→무당의 대동축원→무당의 굿치성(부정굿ㆍ본당굿ㆍ대동굿ㆍ어망굿ㆍ오방굿)→무당의 공수내림과 깃손받기→선주의 뱃고사 순으로 이루어진다.
안섬 당제 堂神은 본당신인 당할아버지와 장군신, 각시신이다. 당할아버지는 바다의 절대신으로 용신이며 장군신은 임경업장군이다. 용신과 임장군신은 모두 풍어와 과련된 신명이다. 여기에 각시신은 배서낭의 서낭각시로 해로를 관할하는 거리신이다.
안섬 공동체는 섬이 육지로 변화하는 과정에서 생업의 혼란을 겪었다. 폐항으로 인해 생업의 터전을 상당부분 상실하였고, 직업의 전환과 같은 변화의 적응노력이 당제를 약화시키는 요인이 되기도 하였다. 따라서 이에 대한 활로 모색으로 당제의 생업 반영, 금기의 현실화, 세대간 연계 및 축제로의 전환, 제의의 기록화와 같은 과제가 요구된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Offering a dangje in the Ahn island consists of preparatory procedures and ritual proceeding briefly. Selection of priests, procurement of expenses, repair of the ritual field, preparation of ritual articles, and manufacturing of ship flags are focused in the preparatory procedures of a dangje in the Ahn island. They have one chief priest and one vice priest, and additionally two to three priests per a time. An amount of expenses is dependent on the grand rite or the minor rite accordingly. The kinds of ritual foods are prepared by a direction from a chief priest and the ship flags are manufactured by the village people together. It is the main note in the manufacturing processes of ship flags that they manufacture the ritual articles which symbolize a wish for making a good haul of fish.
A sacrificial rite is processed by the dangje, the rite for the Dragon King, and the stepping rite for the spirits of the terrain in order. The performances of ritual ceremony at the Dangsan are conducted in the following order : exhibition of sacrificial articles, the chief priests devotion of sacrificial wine, ship holders devotion of sacrificial wine, exorcists invocation for coalition, exorcists devotions with exorcisms (including exorcism for the unknown gods, exorcism for the shrine, exorcism for coalition, exorcism for fishing nets, and exorcism for the Ohbang god), exorcists attendance of blank hands and accept of leading hands, and ship holders sacrifice to the gods of ships.
The inhabitants in the Ahn Island have undergone a confusion of the operating business during the courses that the island was transformed to the land. They had lost most of their fields of operating business caused by a closure of the port and their effort to apply themselves to such changes at that time had caused to deteriorate performances of a dangje. Therefore, a way of full activity for a dangje requires to resolve the following subjects ; reflection of the a dangje into the village peoples operating business, realization of the taboos, connection between the generations, transformation into a festival, and recording of ritual ceremony.
