The reunification of Korea should be pursued and realized by peaceful means and the result must also be peaceful. In order to realize coprosperous reunification, we must work out a new ideology of reunification corresponding to the purpose.
First of all, reunification ideology should be able to be shared by two Koreas. From a realistic point of view, it is highly probable that South Korea, of which national ideology is liberal democracy, will be protagonist at the process of Korean reunification. Therefore, Korean reunification ideology must contain the basic values of liberal democracy such as respect for civil right, political freedom, and legalism, and at the same time be agreeable to North Korea.
Besides, Korean reunification problem is closely related to the interests of 4 countries around the Korean Peninsula. So the Korean reunification ideology should be acceptable by the 4 related countries. And Korean reunification should be pursued and realized in the direction to be acceptable by two Koreas as well as USA, Japan, China, and Russia.
In this regard, concerning the study of Korean reunification problem, search for the national ideology of unified Korea is essential. Hong-ik-in-gan thought, which is the founding ideology of Kochoson, the first country established by Korean people at the ancient age, is suited to such a purpose because the thought is a universal peace thought that pursue harmonious coexistence among all the existence on earth. In addition to that, in the thought, values liberty and equality are harmoniously included.
