세계평화통일가정연합의 양성평등사상과 실천에 관한 연구

Modern society has achieved rapid development, but at the same time, there are many problems that have occurred in various fields including politics, economy, and religion. To fundamentally solve these problems, we look at the unequal relationship between men and women, that is, a gender inequality society. Therefore, this study intends to instruct the practice for realizing a gender-equal society, centering on the unification ideology of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (hereafter referred to as the Family Federation).
To understand the idea of gender equality of the Family Federation, we first look at the theology of unification. Heavenly Parent made the created universe according to his original characteristics of yang (masculinity) and yin (femininity) and to his original characteristics of internal nature and external form. Since they are each different attributes, they are called dual characteristics. Human beings were also created as beings with yang and yin, and with internal nature and external form according to Heavenly Parent's dual characteristics. Heavenly Parent has both yang and yin in perfect harmony within himself. Human beings are beings in which yang and yin are manifested externally through “sex” as men and women. Since Heavenly Parent's dual characteristics are united in a relationship where each entity live for each other while giving and receiving strength, there can be no difference in value or superiority among these dual characteristics. Likewise, for human beings who are the manifestation of Heavenly Parent's dual characteristics, under the form of men and women, there can’t be a difference in values or superiority despite their difference in form and shape.
The Family Federation advocates that there is no difference in values between men and women, but in society, we can find ideological views which support the difference of value between men and women. The problem is that going beyond the ideological view, this idea of the superiority of men over women has been used to build men-centered societies. At the root cause, we can identify the patriarchal system. In addition, we will address gender roles stereotypes and present theological evidence. Then, we will analyze the current situation of gender inequality. We will look at what kind of discrimination exists in society. In particular, if the modern society is men-centered, the victims of a gender inequality society are women. Inequality, including the gender wage gap and gender job stereotype, and sexual violence due to distorted ideology appear as real problems.
The Family Federation is carrying out various activities to realize gender equality. First, we have the blessing marriage in which a man and a woman are married. To receive the blessing marriage, one must receive a sexual purity education before marriage and fidelity education after marriage and practice these educations. Couples who received the blessing marriage must live centered on Heavenly Parent, love each other forever, and live together. And to realize a gender-equal society, we also need women leaders. Historically, men have led as leaders, but if there were women leaders, what role would they play? Finally, we present practices for married couples to live happily.
Where do you start to take action to realize gender equality? The core of the Family Federation ideal is that “Peace begins at home.” Some things need to be done at the national level, but in this paper, it is the practice to realize gender equality at the individual level that we will address first. Then it will be developed from the individual level to the family to finally realize a gender-equal society.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대사회는 급속한 발전을 이루었지만 동시에 정치, 경제, 종교를 비롯한 각계에서 일어난 문제가 많이 있다. 이러한 문제들은 근본적으로 해결하기 위해 남자와 여자의 불평등한 관계, 즉 양성불평등 사회를 살펴본다. 이에 본 연구는 세계평화통일가정연합의 통일사상을 중심삼고 양성평등 사회를 실현하기 위한 실천을 지시하고자 한다.
가정연합의 양성평등 사상을 파악하기 위해 먼저 통일신학을 살펴보면, 하늘부모님은 피조세계를 자신의 본양성과 본음성, 본성상과 본형상에 따라서 창조하였다. 각각 이성이기에 합쳐서 이성성상이라고 한다. 인간도 하늘부모님의 이성성상에 따라서 양성과 음성, 성상과 형상을 지닌 존재로서 창조하셨다. 하늘부모님은 자신 내에 양성과 음성이 조화롭게 지니고 있고 인간은 그러한 양성과 음성이 형상적으로 나타난 존재이기에 ‘성’으로서는 남성과 여성으로 나타난다. 하늘부모님의 이성성상은 서로가 힘을 주고받으면서 위하여 사는 관계로 하나가 되어 있으므로 그 ‘양성’에 가치의 차이나 우월성은 있을 수가 없다. 마찬가지로 하늘부모님의 이성성상으로 나타난 인간, 즉 남성과 여성은 형태나 모양의 차이는 있지만, 가치의 차이와 우월성은 있을 수가 없다.
가정연합에서는 남성과 여성은 동등한 가치를 지닌다고 제시하고 있으나, 사회에서는 남성과 여성의 가치가 다르다고 하는 사상도 있고, 사상뿐만 아니라 실제로 남성과 여성에 우월성을 가지고 남성이 중심으로 한 사회를 마련하고 있는 것이 현실적인 문제다. 대표적인 원인으로 가부장제가 있다. 그리고 성 역할의 고정관념, 그리고 신학적인 근거를 제시한다. 그다음에는 현실에 나타나는 불평등을 정리한다. 실제로 사회에서 도대체 어떤 차별이 있는지 살펴본다. 특히 현대사회는 남자가 중심으로 만들었던 사회라면 양성불평등 사회의 피해자는 여성이 된다. 성별 임금격차와 직종분리를 비롯한 불평등, 왜곡한 사상으로 인한 성폭력 문제가 현실 문제로 나타난다.
가정연합에서는 양성평등 실현하기 위해 여러 활동을 하고 있다. 먼저 한 남성과 한 여성이 결혼하는 축복결혼이다. 축복결혼을 받기 위해서는 결혼하기 전의 순결교육과 결혼한 후의 정조교육을 받아야 하고 스스로 지켜야 한다. 축복결혼을 받은 부부는 하늘부모님을 중심삼고 영원히 상대를 사랑하고 함께 살아간다. 그리고 양성평등 사회를 실현하기 위해서는 역시 여성 지도자가 필요하다. 역사적으로 남성이 지도자로서 인도해왔지만, 만약에 여성지도자가 나온다면 어떤 역할을 할 것인가. 마지막으로 결혼한 부부가 행복하게 살기 위한 실천을 제시한다.
양성평등을 실현하기 위한 실천을 어디서부터 하는 것인가? 가정연합의 핵심은 ‘평화는 가정부터’이다. 국가 차원에서 해야 할 일들도 있지만, 본 논문에서는 먼저 개인과 가정 차원에서 하는 양성평등 실현하기 위한 실천이다. 개인 차원에서 가정으로 전개하고 양성평등 사회를 실현한다.
