This study is aimed for developing a group counseling program that helps the children from low-income single parents to improve their pycological resilience. A literature survey has carried out to review the characteristics of the children from single parent family, the concept of resilience, the parameter related to resilience of such children, the existing programs. Based on the previous study, the author has developed a group counselling program that will improve the resilience of the children from low-income single parent family. The author has conducted 9 group counselling sessions for the children from low-income parent family who aged between 10 to 11. Each session lasted for 2 hours and focused on self esteem, interpersonal skills, and career development. This study can be concluded: Firstly, the program was developed as a preventive measure to improve resilience of the children from low-income single parents by enhancing their protective nature and by accepting the present situation through the group counselling. Secondly, his study categorized the resilience in to 4 subordinate groups that is self esteem, interpersonal skills, learning and career development and tried out a comprehensive approach to the children of low-income single parent. Thirdly, in order to stimulate an interest to the program, an effort to condescend to their intellectual level of the children by introducing programs like playing was made. Finally, this program intends to focus the strength and protective nature of the children, rather than their shortcomings. This can consequently improve their potential in respect to the child development.
