트위터와 평등주의, 그리고 주체화의 문제

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 트위터라는 새로운 매체와 주체화의 문제를 계몽주의라는 근대적 기획의 지평에서 분석하는 것을 목표로 삼았다. 트위터는 ‘빛’과 ‘어둠’이라는 고전적인 상상력을 바탕으로 주체화에 깊숙이 관여하고 있다. 트위터는 SNS의 욕망을 극대화한 매체로서‘훔쳐보기’와‘보여주기’라는 주체화의 원리를 기술적으로 구현한 것이다. 이런 기술적 조건은 ‘평등화’라는 근대의 구조를 그대로 반영하는 것으로, 근대적 주체의 탄생에 중요한 토대를 제공한다. 이런 까닭에 SNS환경을 배제하고 근대적 주체의 문제를 탐구하기 곤란한 상황이 되었으며, 따라서 트위터와 주체화를 관련짓는 관심이 필수적이라고 하겠다. 트위터를 비롯한 SNS환경은 욕망의 과잉을 가속화하면서 곳곳에서 임계점을 설정한다. 온라인에서 이런 효과가 그치는 것이 아니라, 구체적인 정동의 문제로 나아갈 수 있는 여건이 트위터에 구현되어 있는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of my paper is to discuss the problem of subjectivation in the relationship between technology and ideology. What I argue is that SNS(social networking services) cannot be ignored in that it influences the way in which subject is motivated and intensified by desire. It is inclined to the enlightenment ideology interacted with the rationality. As T.W. Adorno points out, it would be called the dialectic of enlightenment, and the essay attempts to relate the aspect of SNS, in particular, "twitter", to the idea of egalitarianism, which is the very idea of enlightenment since the modern era. The point I try to make is that the technological condition of "twitter" gives rise to the material dimension for the idea of equality and precipitates the excess of the subjectivation. The essay examines the reason why the users of SNS is fascinated with the pleasures of the technology and clams that such a pleasure principle is closely connected to the subjectivation in terms of "affect." The conclusion remarks that the foundation of SNS is not only technology but also cultural interaction in the networks of "show-up" desires. This leads to the hysteric subject of capitalism that pushes the desiring machine beyond the limit of bon sens.
