과정 윤리학에서 창조성과 가치 = Creativity & Value in Process Ethics

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this research is suggesting an alternative proposal to the ethical base of Whitehead’s process ethics. At first I intend to reveals that the concept ‘good’ of Whitehead is completely relative, the goodness can be achieved in a whole harmonious and orderly status, and the relative loss is natural in this process of concrescence. Therefore, in process ethics, there is no deterministic and absolute good.
The creativity of Whitehead is not only explicated with good and evil, but also should be discussed by the relation of true and false. argues that true and false are instrumental values for creativity. In other words, a proposition in the process philosophy is not telling an absolute realistic fact, but it should be understood as it develops with the creative advance of the world. That should be recognized as potential nexus including pure potentiality and pure actuality.
The ultimate purpose of values is the advance for vividness, and this advance means the completion of beauty as a final causation. The beauty here, aims consistency without losing individuality. The most important issue is attaining the ultimate value; the advance of aesthetic creativity for harmony and intensity.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

화이트헤드는 전통 철학에서의 선과 악, 참과 거짓의 관계에 대해 다른 관점을 보여준다. 선이란 결국 총체적인 조화와 질서의 국면에 도달하는 것이며, 이러한 과정에서 발생하게 되는 일종의 상대적인 상실(악)은 현실적 존재자들의 생성과정에서 자연스러운 것이다. 즉 전통 윤리학에서 주장하는 것과 같은 절대적, 확정적인 선의 존재는 없다. 참과 거짓에 대해서도 화이트헤드는 다른 관점을 보여준다. 인식론 특히 명제와 관련해서 창조성이 중요한 기준이 된다. 전통적으로 명제는 참과 거짓을 갖는 판단이었지만 과정철학에서는 더 이상 확고부동한 현실적 사실을 말해주는 것이 아니라, 세계의 창조적 전진과 더불어 성장하는 것으로, 즉 순수한 가능태와 순수한 현실태를 포함하는 가능적 연쇄태이다. 참과 거짓보다는 명제가 하나의 흥미(새로움에의 유혹)를 끄는 것이라는 점이 중요하다. 화이트헤드는 아름다움에 대해 창조성과 더불어 설명한다. 현실적 존재자의 궁극적 목적은 새로움에의 전진이며, 이는 아름다움의 완성이다. 여기서 아름다움은 개별성을 훼손하지 않으면서 통일성을 지향하는 것으로 통일성과 다양성을 균형적으로 획득하는 것이다. 화이트헤드의 과정 철학은 윤리적 관점과 인식론적 관점 모두 존재론의 관점에서 통일된 주장을 하고 있다. 즉 조화와 균형의 미적 창조성은 이들 모두를 아우르는 윤리학인 것이다.
