The purpose of the present study is to explore variables which could impact on children’s adjustment to school life, especially in first graders of elementary schools. The data used in the statistical analyses in this study are those from the Panel Study on Korean Children which have been conducted by Korea Institute of Child Care and Education since 2008. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were performed in order to understand basic background and general characteristics. In addition, t-test and multiple regression analysis were performed to explore effective variables in school adjustment. In the results, female first graders had higher scores in school adjustment including sub-dimensions of the adjustment than males. The variables that influence on children’s school adjustment were children’s academic competence, their parents’ active attitude to school activities, children’s feeling of closeness to their teachers, and the hours of children’s media usage including computers, cell-phones, internet, etc.
