Estimation of maximum floods with given return periods of importance in design of hydraulic and hydrologic structures. So, in computation of maximum flood an estimate of frequency statistics that has high confidence is important. A comparative study of well-known probability distributions for the three fiver systems, namely, the Han river and the Nakdong river, is presented. The distributions are 2 parameter lognormal(LN2), 3 Parameter lognormal(LN3), Pearson type Ⅲ(P3) and Log-Pearson type Ⅲ(LP3). A estimation of parameter for four distributions is developed in this study based on the method of moment. The results indicated the design floods computed from the assumed distribution provide compararable results. By these results it is shown that LN3 distrbution is generally better to annual maximum flood data than other distributions.
