한국교회와 구원론: “새 관점”에 대한 복음주의의 대응 －로마서와 갈라디아서에 나타난 바울의 “이신칭의”(the Justification by Faith)교훈을 중심으로－ = Korean Church and Soteriology: An Evangelical Response to the New Perspective -With Special Reference to Paul`s Teachings of “Justification by Faith” in Romans and Galatians-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This is an evangelical response to the reinterpretation of the New Perspective on Paul(NPP) about the Pauline teaching of the justification of faith. Recently E.P. Sanders, James D,G. Dunn, and N.T. Wright, the most outstanding advocates of the NPP, have challenged the traditional understanding of Paul`s teaching on `justification by faith`, by arguing firstly, it(`justification by faith`) is a Gentile mission product rather than the core teaching of Paul`s gospel; secondly, it is an social-ecclesiological doctrine rather than an soteriological; thirdly, it makes away with the imputation; and fourthly, it is related with the present verdict rather than the future verdict which will be given in accordance with the whole life of the believer. Throughout an exegetical research on Paul`s teachings on `justification by faith` in Romans and Galatians, this paper defends the traditionalunderstanding of `justification by faith`, by arguing firstly, it is a core part of Paul`s gospel, secondly, it is soteriological as well as ecclesiological, thirdly, it goes on with the imputation, and fourthly it is related with both the present and the future verdict. Therefore, this paper concludes that the reinterpretation of the NPP about the Pauline teaching of `justification by faith has no biblical foundation, although the NPP has provided some new insights on the role of the covenant and the law within Second Temple Judaism, as well as on the horizontal meaning of the righteousness in the Pauline letters.
