아라나미 헤이지로(荒浪平治郞) 장서의 현황과 가치 - 국립중앙도서관의 ‘郵政文庫’ 소장본을 중심으로 - = The Present Status and Value of The Collection of Aranami Heijiro(荒浪平治郞)

This study focused on the collection and current status of the collection of books by Heijiro Aranami (荒浪平治郞, 1858-1921) donated by Korea Post Officials Training Institute and housed in Woojung Collection (郵政文庫) of National Library of Korea. Aranami served as the principal and teacher of the first modern school, Busan Gaeseong School (釜山開成學校), and worked at the Joseon Government General Intervention Bureau and Jungchuwon (中樞院). Woojung Collection 4,487 volumes of 874 titles, and the Aranami collection is 1,214 volumes of 264 titles. Counting by kind, Aranami collection accounts for about 30.2% of the total collection. The Aranami collection has 10 titles of Korean books (3.8%), 193 titles of Japanese books (73.1%), and 61 titles of Chinese books (23.1%). Compared to the very high proportion of Japanese books, the proportion of Korean books is very low. The ownership stamps used nine species to stamp 215 titles, and the ownership records was written to 97 titles. Aranami left records in several books, including his favorite books, which will enable him to study his academic ideas deeply. Aranami is known as an educator in the modern Busan area, but the fact that he is a collector of books was newly revealed when the Woojung Library was established at the National Library of Korea. The study of Aranami's collection, which accounts for about 30.2% of Woojung Collection, is a partial study to understand the nature of Woojung Collection, and it is expected that research on the entire collection will be conducted.
