      吸入 醉劑中 널리 使用되는 diethyl ether로  醉한 家兎의 肺胞表面 活性物質의 活性度가 低下 또는 變化하지 않는다는 等의 區區한 見解가 있어 이를 더 究明하기 爲해 家兎의 肺歲으로부터 肺洗滌液을 作成하여 diethyl ether를 in vitro로 直接 20:1, 12:1 및 6:1의 比率로 混合하여 4℃에서 7間에서 放置하고 그 途中 1, 2, 3, 5 및 7일에서 各各 表面張力을 測定하고 아울러 stability index를 計算하여 對照群의 그것과 比較하였던 바 다음과 같은 結果를 얻었다.
      1) 正常家兎 肺洗滌液의 最大, 最小 表面張力은 각각 56.2(55∼59), 5.5(1.5∼9) dyne/cm이고 stability index는 1.64이다.
      2) 肺洗滌液고 diethyl either를 20:1의 比率로 混合한 群에서 肺胞表面 活性物質의 活性度는 對照群에 比하여 多少 低下하는 傾向을 나타내었으나 큰 差異는 없었다.
      3) 12:1의 比率로 混合한 群에서는 對照群에 l하여 肺胞表面 活性物質의 活性度가 크게 低下하는 傾向을 나타내었다
      4) 6:1의 比率로서 混合한 群에서는 對照群에 比하여 그 活性度도가 크게 低下하기는 했으나 12:1의 것과는 큰 差異는 볼 수 없었다.
      5) 以上의 結果로서 diethyl ether의 in vitro 添加가 高農度에서는 肺胞表面 活性物質의 活性度를 低下시킨다고 할 수 있겠다.

      Contradicting results have been reported concerning the effect of diethyl ether on the activities of the pulmonary surfactant when diethyle ether was used as the general inhalation anesthetics to the rabbit, in vivo.
      In the present study, an effort was made to elucidate a possible inhibitory effect of diethyl ether on the pulmonary surfactant, in vitro, and diethyl ether was added to the lung washings, obtained from the rabbit lung by washing, out gently from the left lung twice with saline, in the ratios of 20:1, 12;1 and 6:1 (ratio of the lung washings vs diethyl ether).
      The activities of the pulmonary surfactant were measured with the modified Langmuir-Wilhelmy balance on the 1st., 2nd., 3rd., 5th. and 7th. day after the addition of diethyl ether to the lung wshings.
      A control study was made in which the lung washings were stored at 4℃ for 7 days, and the activities of the pulmonary surfactant were measured at the same interval as in the experimental groups.
      A comparison was made with the normal values of the minimal and maximal surface tensions of the surfactant as well as the stability index, and the results are summerized as follows:
      1. The maximal and minimal surface tensions of the lung washings of the rabbit were 56.2 and 5.5 dync/cm respectively, and the stability index was 1.64.
      2. When diethyl ether was added to the lung washings in th ratio of 20:1 (lung washings vs diethyl ether), the activities of the pulmonary surfactant did not change from the control noticeably.
      3. When the ration of lung washings vs diethyl ether was made 12:1, a markedly decreased a activities of the pulmonary surfactant were observed throughout the entire experiment.
      4. When the ratio of lung washings vs diethyl ether was further increased to 6:1, the activities of the pulmonary surfactant were decrease from the control mrkedy, but decrease was similar to when in ratio was 12:1.
      5. From the above results, it is concluded that diethyl ether produces a definete inhibitory effects on the activities of the pulmonary surfactant when used in a high concentration in vitro.
