기독교대안학교의 정체성 유지와 성장을 위한 방안 연구: 기독교대안학교 전현직 교장 인터뷰를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

기독교대안학교는 기독교에 대한 반감, 학령인구의 감소, 가계 빚의 증가 등으로 존립을 위협받고 있다. 게다가 2000년대 중반부터 본격적으로 설립 운영되기 시작한 이 학교들의 1세대 리더들이 퇴진하고 있다. 이 학교들이 정체성을 유지하면서 살아남기 위해서는 1세대 리더들이 남기는 유산을 확인하여 다음 세대 리더들에게 넘겨줄 필요가 있다. 이에 이 연구는 설립 된지 10년 이상 된 기독교대안학교에서 5년 이상 기독교대안학교장으로 섬긴 교장들과의 인터뷰를 통해 첫째, 그들이 남기는 유산이 무엇인지를 확인하고자 하였다. 둘째, 다음 세대 기독교대안학교장들이 감당해야 할 과제가 무엇인지 점검하였다.
기독교대안학교의 1세대 리더들과의 면담을 통해 그들이 분명한 교육철학과 목적을 가지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 그들은 기독교대안학교 구성원들 모두가 그러한 철학과 목적을 공유하도록 하기 위해 지극한 노력을 기울였다는 점도 알 수 있었다. 이 연구의 대상이 되었던 기독교대안학교들에서는 교사와 학생들이 함께 기숙생활을 하였다. 그러는 가운데 교사들은 학생들이 학교가 추구하는 교육 목적에 부합하게 살아가도록 가르치고 있었다.
다음 세대 기독교대안학교 리더들은 학교가 추구하는 교육철학과 목적을 수호해야 할 사람들이다. 그러므로 다음 세대 리더들은 학교가 추구하는 바를 이미 체득한 학교 구성원 가운데 나올 가능성이 높아보였다. 그리고 그들에게는 지금까지 붙들어 왔던 교육철학과 비전을 수호하면서 재학생들이 신앙과 인성만이 아니라 학문적 수월성까지 탁월하게 기를 수 있도록 교육성과를 내야 한다는 책임이 주어져 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The existence of Christian alternative schools is threatened by antipathy to Christianity, a decrease in the school-age population, and an increase in household debt. Moreover, the first-generation leaders of the schools, which have been established and operated since the mid-2000s, are now retiring. In order for the schools to survive while maintaining their identity as Christian schools, it is necessary to identify the legacy left by the first-generation leaders of the schools and pass it on to the next-generation leaders of the schools. Therefore, this study first tried to confirm the legacy the first-generation leaders left through interviews with the leaders who served as the principals of Christian alternative schools for more than 10 years. Second, this study checked what tasks the next-generation leaders of the schools should undertake.
Through interviews with the first-generation leaders, it was confirmed that they had a clear educational philosophy and purpose in accord with Christian worldview. It was also found that they put a lot of effort into making sure that all members of the Christian Alternative School shared that philosophy and purpose. In the Christian alternative schools that were the subjects of this study, teachers and students lived together in dormitories. Living together, the teachers were teaching their students to live in harmony with the biblical worldview.
The next-generation leaders are the people who should defend the educational philosophy and purpose pursued by the school. Therefore, the next-generation leaders seemed more likely to come from among the members of the school who had already learned what the school was pursuing. They are given the responsibility to protect the educational philosophy and vision they had held so far, and to enable the students of the school to excel not only in faith and character, but also in academic excellence.
