This study has been performed to investigate the mechanical properties and microstructures of austempered 0.9% C, 1.5-4.5% Si alloyed cast steel.
The austempered microstructures which contain up to 39% stabilized austenite has been obtained, Mechanical properties and microstructures depended primarily on the austumpering time, temperature and the amount of austenite present. The optimum properties have been obtained at the chemical compositions of 0.9% C and 2.5% Si.
