In the middle of the Chosun dynasty, Yakcheon, Nam, Gu-man (1629~1711) wrote Hamheung-sipkyungdo-ki and Bukkwan-sipkyungdo-ki in which he described fine scenery of Hamheung and Hamkyung-bukdo. Since ancient times, most of literary men mainly described fine scenery of Guemkang-san, Jiri-san, Baekdu-san or the seashore of Gwandong. But Yakcheon's this two works especially described fine scenery of the northeastern provinces. This two works had an influence on North-frontier literary works which Soron-party literary men of after ages created, so they have important positions in history of Korean literature.
This two works praised hometown of Taejo, described beautiful scenery vividly, praised faithfulness, and showed attachment to a lost territory. So I think this two works should not yield to any good travel piece of mountains and waters. In this paper, I examined scenic description and narrative characteristics of this two works through an analysis of work.
