세종시대의 법률과 세종의 효사상에 관한 고찰 = A Study of the Laws in King Sejong Period and King Sejong’s Idea of Filial Piety

Joseon Dynasty founded in 1392 was established to reduce the economic inequality and resolve the status conflicts in Goryeo Dynasty by literary people and martial artists having the support of lower classes to protect the nation from foreign invasion and found the strong and prosperous nation. Until King Taejong, the basic institution was prepared to create the basis for running the country. King Sejong had completed the reform of farmland system and the institutional organization such as organizing irrigation system, reducing tax burden and enactment of the general laws.
The Joseon Dynasty had pursued Confucianism. As entering the King Sejong Period, the three fundamental bonds in human relationships and the five constant virtues were considered important. To build the government system in the beginning for political stability of the country and strengthening the royal authority, the three fundamental bonds were emphasized as practical principles under the ideology of Confucianism. To govern the country and implement the policies for citizens, laws and ethics should inevitably be harmonized.
