Assessing Equivalence of Student Affective Measures in PISA 2003Min, Kyungseok(Korea Institute of Curriculum & Evaluation)Main findings for Korea in PISA 2000 and 2003 were that 15 years old Korean students performed very well on Reading, Mathematics, Science and Problem Solving. In spite of high cognitive achievement, Korean students showed very low satisfaction with their schools and doing study. The purpose of this study was to assess equivalence of student affective measures in PISA 2003 to validate cross-country comparisons. After applying multi-group structural equation models to Korea, Japan, and Finland data, it was found that factor structural equivalence and factor loading equivalence were confirmed but intercept equivalence was rejected. This meant that cultural situations and response patterns, which might cause measurement differences, should be carefully considered to make cross-country comparison of affective measures.
