NEO 청소년 성격검사 타당화 연구 = A Validation Study of NEO Personality Assessment System(NEO-PAS) for Adolescents

The present study was conducted to investigate the reliabilities and validities of 'NEO Personality Assessment System(NEO-PAS)' for adolescents in terms of understanding personality for growth and development. 936 Students(394 high school students and 542 middle school students) were administered in order to investigate the validity of the 'NEO-PAS for adolescents'. Simultaneously, 371 students among them were administered assessment of learning strategy for adolescent, adolescent crisis risk/protective factor questionnaire, and risk behavior questionnaire to verify the criterion-related validity. At the same time percentile rank of 374 students were obtained as a criterion. As the results, 'NEO-PAS for adolescents' showed high reliability, and acceptable validity. Cronbach coefficients α ranged from .82 to .95 across five factors, and ranged from .55-.86 across the 26 facets. Second, Fit statistics for the factor structure of NEO-PAS for adolescents was adequate. Third, the correlations of NEO-PAS for adolescent with the criteria of adolescent crisis risk factor and protective factor, risk behavior, learnig strategy, and percentile rank were assessed to verify criterion-related validity. The correlation coefficients were high and correspondent to the results of previous studies. This study is meaningful in that it laid groundwork to utilize the 'NEO-PAS for adolescents' in adolescent counseling by proving the validation. The results suggested the usefulness of the 'NEO-PAS for in adolescents' the area of adolescent crisis or academic problem.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 NEO 청소년 성격검사의 측정학적 적합성을 탐색하기 위하여 신뢰도 정보와, 확인적 요인분석을 통해 NEO 청소년성격검사의 구인타당도를 제시하였다. 또한 청소년 위기의 위험ㆍ보호요인, 위기행동, 학습전 략 그리고 성적과의 상관 분석을 통해 NEO 청소년성격검사의 준거타당도를 조사하였다. 연구 결과, 내적합치 도, 구인타당도, 준거타당도의 면에서 모두 청소년용 NEO 성격검사가 타당한 것으로 나타났다. 내적합치도 신 뢰도 계수는 중․고등학생 전체적으로 5요인 척도별로는 .82-.95의 범위에 있다. 또한 하위척도별는 .55-.86이 다. 둘째, 적합도 지수에서 모두 NEO 청소년성격검사의 요인구조가 적합함이 확인되었다. 셋째, 청소년 위기의 보호요소, 위험요소, 위기행동, 학습전략 그리고 성적과 NEO 청소년성격검사 요인들 간의 상관분석을 통하여 준거타당도를 검증한 결과, NEO 성격검사 요인들의 개념 및 선행연구 결과들과 일치하는 상관관계를 보여주었 다.
