Beyond Budgeting Model에 관한 사례연구 = A Case Study on the Beyond Budgeting Model

국문 초록 (Abstract)

BBRT의 BBM 개념과 이 개념을 은행 경영에 실제 적용하여 35년 이상 지속적인 경쟁우위를 유지하고 있는 스벤스카 한델스 은행의 사례를 분석하였으며, 분석 내용을 요약해 보면 다음과 같다.
스벤스카 한델스 은행은 고객ㆍ주주 가치 지향적인 전략목표를 달성하기 위해 극단적인 조직분권화를 실행하여 고객의 변화하는 욕구에 유연하게 대응할 수 있도록 하였으며, 대응의 결과로서 발생하는 성과도 상대적 성과 개선에 기초한 순위 경쟁 시스템을 도입ㆍ적용하여 지속적인 성과개선이 유지되도록 하였고, 성과 공유 제도를 운용하여 성과에 대한 공동 책임의식을 갖게 함으로써 보다 높은 성과가 실현되고 강화될 수 있었다.
이러한 BBM의 적용은 궁극적으로 고객지향적인 그리고 성과지향적인 조직문화를 조성하는데 기여하였으며, 스벤스카 한델스 은행을 유럽에서 성공한 은행들 중의 하나로 만든 핵심동인이었다고 볼 수 있다.
국내 은행업계는 한미FTA체결과 “자본시장과 금융투자업에 관한 법률”의 국회통과를 눈앞에 두고 있는 현 시점에서 그 어느 때 보다 높은 경영환경의 불확실성을 경험하고 있으며 이에 고객ㆍ주주가치 중심의 성과관리가 무엇보다 강조되어야 할 시기이다. 이런 점에서 스벤스카 한델스 은행의 BBM 사려는 국내 은행들에게 그 시사하는 바가 크다고 하겠다. 따라서 앞으로 이에 대한 구체적인 국내 적용 방안에 관한 보다 활발한 연구와 논의들이 있어야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the beyond budgeting model of Beyond Budgeting Round Table (BBRT) by the instance of the Svenska Handelsbanken.
BBRT, one of CAM-I's major international programs, was formed in 1998 to explore why some companies had discarded the budgeting process. Specifically, the round table participants sought to understand the alternative instruments these companies had adopted and whether these adjustments were associated with the advancement of a new financial model that is more in tune with today's business environment.
The round table members believe that using traditional budgeting is a serious handicap in today's evolving and tumultuous markets. They would like to see companies move from forecasting to real-time responsiveness and from centralized decision making to empowerment. Also, they feel that companies must respond quickly to customer needs, become flexible to change, and adopt a set of performance management procedures better aligned with organizational objectives.
The Svenska Handelsbanken is an impressive example of a company that proves that a radically de-centralized management model can be maintained over a long period of time-in this case more than 35 years- and through several generations of employees and top management.
BBM example of this Svenska Handelsbanken is very suggestive to domestic banks. Therefore, it may have to be more researches and discussions about specific domestic application method of BBM forword.
