After partial nephrectomy, major complications such as urinary fistula and secondary bleeding are derived from necrosis in renal cut margin.
We have performed experimental partial nephrectomy in dogs to compare the extent of necrosis in renal cut margin by the wedge resection (5 dogs), the transverse polar resection (5 dogs) and the chromic ligature resection (5 gods).
The wedge resection group shovred more deep necrosis and more delayed healing than the other two groups.
The results suggest that both the transverse polar resection and the chromic ligature resection are less complicated technique of partial nephrectomy than the wedge resection.
