Since law was enacted in 1984, multi-family housing has contributed to resolving the housing shortage in the cities by facilitating the construction of Small-size Apartment Housing utilizing the small land. But Multi-family housing resulted in lack of parking space and rise of Housing density.
To resolve the shortage of residential parking spaces, Each local governments is now pushing ahead with construction of public parking lot, in accordance with Secure rate of parking lot (The number of parking unit layout, divided by car registrations ratios). However, Despite good secure rate of parking lot, virtually the parking problem is continuing in some multi-family housing areas. Meanwhile, A Study on the Parking Situation of Multi-Family Housing is lacking.
So, to confirm the relation of parking problem and Multi-family housing, defining the barometer of local parking problem as the Severity of parking which consists of complaints for illegal parking and applications for residential parking, I carried out a correlation analysis between the severity of local parking situation and Multi-Family Housing etc.
As a result, it has been analyzed that the more Multi-Family house, the more applications for residential parking and compliants for illegal parking are. Meanwhile, secure rate of parking lot is has nothing to do with applications for residential parking and compliants for illegal parking.
In this study, Through the empirical date Analysis such as application for residential parking and Number of complaints for illegal parking, It has been demonstrated that Multi-Family house is closely linked to local parking problem in residential areas and that secured rate of parking lot has not reflected the parking trouble of local residents.
In Future, There is a growing need to build and manage DB for parking. Through the construction of DB about applications for residential parking and complaints for illegal parking, we could select a area of parking problem that local people are concerned.
