The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of middle school students`` perceived social status levels on defence behaviors against peer bullying perpetrators and help giving behaviors to victims including mediating effects of defender self-efficacy. For the purpose, total of 1109 middle school students, 498 male and 611 female, in Seoul and Gyeonggi area participated in the study. Results are as followed. First, levels of perceived social status showed significant effects both on defence behaviors and defender self-efficacy. Second, the defender self-efficacy mediated the social status perceived by peers and defence behaviors with victims. Finally, results showed that the partial mediation model suggested the better model fit than the full mediation model. Implications and suggestions for the future research were discussed.
