한국어 외재 소유 구문의 환유적 확장 = Metonymic Extensions of External Possession Constructions in Korean

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Possessive constructions consisting of a possessor and a possessee have two types: attributive possession and predicative possession. Possessor-possessee constructions based on ownership, kinship, and whole-part relations appear in various constructions through metonymic extension. They are also expressed as external possessive constructions that do not permit argument structures in the main clause in Korean. Many external possessions are extended and understood through cognitive processes such as metonymy and conceptual blending, which form an integrated one of a possessor and a possessee. Inalienable and contiguous possessions are especially expressed by unmarked genitive constructions or multiple case marking constructions. The multiple accusative case marking construction is passivized by a retained object passive construction. The attributive possession with whole-part relations could be relativized as a genitive relative clause, and external possessive constructions with in-head relative clauses are also used in Korean. All these types of external possessions and related constructions use common cognitive processing based on metonymy.
