Activated carbon was prepared from rice hull by chemical activation with NaOH. The preparation process was carried out by roasting, carbonization, chemical activation, washing and drying. Carbonization process was carried out at 650 ℃, 1hr Chemical activation process was carried out by using NaOH as an activation agent at 800℃, the N_(2)BET surface areas were measured as about 752∼1226㎡/g with 100∼300wt% chemical ratio of NaOH. The specific surface area of activated carbon was increased with chemical ratio of NaOH. Total pore volume and average pore radine were determined as about 0.37∼0.7㎤/g and 39.49Å, respectively. The preparation of activated carbon from rice hull by NaOH chemical activation was successfully carried out and tested in our lab.
