In this research we have studied the vibrational energy exchange in the
collision of CO molecules theoretically, because of the CO laser is capable of high output powers at higher efficiency than have been reported for other systems and the crucial role that vibrational energy transfer rates play in determining the operating characteristics of CO lasers. In particular, we have pointed the near-resonant processes in low temperatures. In the vibrational energy exchange process the energy mismatch can be removed by the local translational motion of CO dimer when the energy mismatch is small and temperature is low. Near-resonant vibrational energy exchange rates are as fast as the gas kinetic rates.
