박재삼 시 연구 = A Study on the Park Je-sam's Poetry - Aesthetic Characteristics of reflected nihilism

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aim of this study is to provide an overview of Park Jae Sam's poetry world, with an emphasis on passive nihilism. His poetry is characterized by nihilism. I suggest that there are three distinctive qualities in Park Jae Sam's poetry. First of all, there is no significant disparity between opposite things. On the surface, his poetry provides a strong counterpoint; Life and death, light and shadow, delight and sorrow, dream and reality etc..... Though the inside the sharp contrast between life and death is gone. In his poetry, we can't distinguish dream with reality. We can say, therefore, there is no tenacity for life.
Secondly, Park Jae Sam imparted his poems with the mood that happens in the present is the repetition of the past event. For that reason, there are no new meanings in the present. Thus everything that will happen is what already happened. Hence, there is no strong will in his poem.
Thirdly, Park Jae Sam's poetry is pervaded with uncertainty in life. It seems reasonable to assume that there is no value in human standard.
This perspective, Park Jae Sam's poetry reminds us of nihilism. The poet's voice displays a comparable attitude toward nihilism. Especially, his poetry is intimately linked with passive nihilism. We find many evidences such as the following: The title, [허무에 갇혀], implies the central metaphor all is vanity in life. The attitude of emptiness recurs frequently in his poems. It should not surprise us to discover that his early poem was similar to his last poem. Suffice it to say that he consistently wrote nihilistic poems for 40 years.
Similar to his poem 'wind plays the same game for thousand years', he posed the same attitude for 40 years. We cannot say his poetry has changed and developed much.
It should be pointed out that Park Jae Sam's poetry acquire unique quality. It remains to be seen whether nihilism in his poem is good or not. Without a doubt, Park Jae Sam has shown to us another world through passive nihilism.
