    A study was done on the possibility of the treated sludge permeate as an adjuvant of flocculation for the purpose of saving flocculation agent consumption. The results are as follows. When a solution of 0.6% polyelectrolyte was used as a coagulant it is found that the flocculation is best at the dose of 230 mg/L. The concentration of remaining polyelectrolyte in permeate is estimated as 0.067%. In a case where only permeate is used the best result is obtained at the ratio of sludge to permeate is 66:34. In other case where only the polyelectrolyte solution is used the best result is obtained at the ratio of sludge to permeate is 96:4. This signifies that permeate is a possible candidate as flocculation agents. However the use of permeate leads into an inevitable decrease in the volume of sludge treated on the base of single operation. So the best way seems to be a continuous monitoring of optimum dose of flocculation and its application on the process. A thesis for the degree of Master in February 2010
