라캉의 실재 개념에 대한 비판적 독해 : 주디스 버틀러의 <담론의 구성적 외부>개념을 중심으로 = A critical study on Lacan's conception of the Real - based on Judith Butler’s concept of constitutive outside of discours

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 주제는 버틀러의 구성적 외부 개념을 통해 라캉의 실재 개념을 비판적으로 재독해하는 것이다. 라캉(Jacques Lacan)의 실재 개념은 라캉의 이론 안에서 인간의 상상적 지평과 언어적 체계를 가능하게 해주는 의미화 할 수 없는 언어 이전의 최초의 육체성, 충동의 형태로 제시된다. 반면 버틀러의 이론적 작업은 모든 정체성들과 마찬가지로 성적 정체성 역시 담론적인 것으로 개념화하는 것이며, 이 때 육체 역시 담론이라는 물질적이고 역사적인 조건들의 결과로서 재개념화하는 것이다. 본 논문은 이러한 버틀러의 관점을 따라 최초의 육체성을 여성적인 것으로 개념화하는 라캉의 구조주의적 논리가 수정될 필요가 있음을 주장했으며 결과적으로는 라캉의 실재 개념을 언어로서 접근 불가능한 절대적 외부가 아닌 라캉의 이론 그 자체가 배제하고 있는 구성적 외부이자 개방적인 재의미화가 가능한 개념으로 수정해 읽을 것을 제안했다. 라캉의 이론이 실재라는 실체적 동일성과 이를 기반으로 한 상징계라는 필연적 구조를 상정하고 그것을 여전히 ‘아버지의 이름’, ‘거세’, ‘여성적인 것’과 같은 인격성을 나타내는 용어들과 함께 설명할 때 이는 단순히 이론의 용어상의 문제로 축소될 수 없다. 이러한 용어들이 특수한 구조주의적 논리 하에 채택되고 있다는 사실은 이러한 구조의 논리를 현실적 대상들로 물질화(materialization)시키기 때문이다. 본 논문은 이러한 문제의식 하에 라캉에 대한 버틀러의 해체적 재독해를 따라가고자 했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The subject of this paper is to critically reread Lacan's concept of the real(le réel), using Judith Butler's 'constitutive outside' concept. In Jacques Lacan's theory, the real is concerned with the insignificant maternal body that makes possible the human imagination and linguistic system. On the other hand, Butler's theoretical work is to conceptualize sexual identity as discursive, like all identities, and reconceptualize the body as a result of the material and historical conditions of discourse. This paper argues that structuralist logic needs to be revised, following Butler's point of view. And this paper propose to revise Lacan's concept of the real as a 'constitutive outside' open to the re-meaning rather than an 'absolute outside' inaccessible through language.
In structuralist logic, Lacan uses terms representing personality such as 'father's name', 'castration', and 'feminine'. However, this cannot be reduced to simply a matter of terminology. Because these terms materialize structures into real objects. Criticisms that psychoanalytic theories are useful in explaining oppression and justifying such oppression have been long but still being raised. And it can be said that many works of modern philosophy, including Butler's work, have been devoted to removing this aspect from psychoanalysis and reviving its political usefulness and potential. The goal of this paper is also here, and for this purpose, I tried to follow Butler's deconstructive rereading about Lacan.
