This study examines the structure and characteristics of the general education consulting program offered by the Korea National Institute for General Education(KONIGE) and analyzes its application and outcomes through cases of universities with successful reform. Based on KONIGE’s policy documents and reports, the study finds that the consulting contributed to improving the appropriateness and academic quality of general education curricula. Each university implemented reforms by adapting the standard model to reflect their unique educational philosophies. Notably, institutional commitment to establishing and sustaining general education identity emerged as a key factor. The findings suggest that KONIGE’s consulting can play a practical role in supporting innovation in general education.
