포스트휴먼시대의 다중접속 이타성의 윤리와 예술 = The Ethics and Arts of Multi-Junction Altruism in the Age of Posthumanism

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 비판적 포스트휴머니즘의 관점에서 윤리와 예술적 미학의 문제를 살펴보고자 한다. 이런 천착은 고전적 휴머니즘의 쇠퇴와 과학기술의 발전이 가져올 포스트휴먼 미래에 대한 윤리·예술적 담론을 고민하는 것이기도 하다. 인간을 중심에 두고 차이를 열등함으로 만들어온 이원론의 고전적 휴머니즘에 대해 포스트휴먼적 비판은 비이분법적인 자연·문화 상호작용과 탈인간중심적 경계해체와 다중접속의 포스트휴먼적 이타성의 윤리를 추구하고 있다. 또한 이런 윤리적 방향성은 예술적 미학의 방식을 통해서도 나타나고 있는데, 이런 윤리와 예술적 방향성에 대해 천착하고 그 의미를 살펴보고자 한다. 연구자는 바이오 아트에서 포스트휴머니즘적인 다중접합 이타성의 윤리와 예술을 적극적으로 펼치고 있다는 가설을 내세우고자 한다. 반면에 SF영화는 아직까지 이런 다중접합 이타성의 윤리와 미학을 소극적·부정적 방식으로 재현되면서 다가올 포스트휴머니즘 윤리와 예술을 예비하고 있다고 제시할 것이다. 결론적으로 미래를 열어가는 포스트휴머니즘적 윤리학과 예술은 의식변화와 동반되는 실제적인 다중접속 이타성의 윤리와 미학을 통해 실현될 수도 있음을 제시할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Posthumanist theories have become increasingly popular among scholars in the human sciences. Posthumanism which evolved from a combination of Postmodernism and technology, is the antithesis of humanism. The hope of this research is that they will improve our grasp of relations between humans and various nonhumans and, in the process, offer ethics and art of multi-junction altruism. New technologies will blur the boundaries between humans, animals, and machines, between artificial and natural, born and made, reality and virtual. In this paper, I assess the merits of posthumanisms for critical scholarship. An inquiry into Donna Haraway, I argue that posthumanist thinking offers not only ethics of multi-junction altruism but normative advantages over humanism ethics. And I suggest the art’s direction of multi-junction altruism through bio-artists. Especially, I will research the bio art of Kac, Stelarc and Orlan. Such artists are fusing their bodies-identities with technology, re-organising their bodily integrity and exteriority, going beyond natural and social constrains of their bodily nature. But th public who are confused by the advent of high-technology experience a kind of intermediating process through SF films and novels which represent the 'post-human'. SF films and novels contain their own humanism’s limitations. By the way, Posthumanism will depend upon technical resources from capital. For this reason, a critical posthumansim would best be served by preserving a tension between posthumanist methods and capitalism. After all, this research pursuit for the ethics and art of multi-junction altruism in the age of posthumanism.
