Yellow signal is very important at the intersection, because it makes drivers to anticipate and cope with the changes of signal. However, yellow signal make drivers to fall in dilemma in the process of decision making. This study examined the change of autonomic nervous system(ANS) response according to driving velocities and perceptions of yellow signal in yellow interval dilemma. Fourteen undergraduate students(average age 24.9± 1.92) participated in this experiment. They had more than one year of driving experience and living in Daejeon. Participants, in the constant driving condition of 80km and 100km velocity, drove for each about 10~15 minutes on driving courses combined by the five yellow interval dilemma situation. In addition, electrocardiogram(ECG) and electrodermal activity(EDA) were measured during driving. As a result, skin conductance level(SCL), skin conductance response(SCR), and number of SCR(NSCR), represented the activation of sympathetic nervous system(SNS), were higher at the yellow interval dilemma situation. In contrast, respiratory sinus arrhythmia(RSA), represented the activation of parasympathetic nervous system, were lower at that situation. This study have significance in terms that ANS response was examined in yellow interval dilemma situation.
