지역혁신체계 이론의 어제와 오늘 = Regional Innovation System Theory: Past and present

Regional innovation systemhas becomea mantra among economic development scholars and professionals alike.The creation and dissemination of new knowledge is a critical elementfor the sustainable development, particularly in the new economy. Therefore,it is imperative to understand the innovation process froma systematic perspective that includesfirms, governments,institutions, as well as environmental factors surrounding them.In particular, this study discusses early ideas of innoation system developed by Marshall and Neo-Marshallians. Itcovers the basic concepts of national and regional innovation system and their implications.The study also examines the elements of the regional innovation system and the current research trend.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지역혁신체계는 최근의 지역경제 연구에서 가장 중요하게 다루어지는 화두중의 하나이다. 새로운 지식의 생산과 확산은 지속 가능한 성장을 가능케 해주는 핵심이며 따라서지역경제의 깊이 있는 이해를 위해서는 혁신과정을기업, 정부, 제도 및 기타 환경적 요인을 아우르는 혁신체계라는 측면에서 접근하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문은 이와같은 지역혁신체계의 이해에 대한 필요성을 충족시키기 위해 지역현신체계 연구의 이론적 출발점으로 부터 최근 연구에 이르는 흐름에 대한 체계적인 정리와 고찰을 시도한다. 본 논문에서는 특히 Marshall 과 Neo-Marshallian 들의 지역과 혁신에 관한 논의를 비롯하여 국가혁신체계 및 지역혁신체계의 기본적 개념과 의의가 다루어진다.또한 지역혁신체계의 구성요소와 최근의 연구흐름이 심도 있게 논의되며 마지막으로지역혁신체계 연구의 정책적 함의가 논의된다.
