The changes in security environment of East Asia including nuclear problems of North Korea cast new tasks of establishment of a multilateral cooperation system in East Asia. Economic integration, infrastructure building, environmental cooperation, social and cultural exchanges and cooperation are all necessary conditions for establishment of a multilateral cooperation system in East Asian region. In order to pursue common prosperity in East Asia and secure permanent peace after complete removal of security threats, establishment of a multilateral cooperation system shall become the foremost interest of countries in the region, and it is fortunate that government in Korea, China and Japan commonly recognizes its necessity. This paper attempts to analyze the possibilities of multilateral security cooperation through the six-party talks in East Asia and North Korea`s attitude towards the multilateral cooperation. The multilateral framework of the six-party talks which began with aims to solve nuclear problems of North Korea is highly likely to comprehensively handle not only a solution for nuclear problems but also peace-building issues of the Korean peninsula and connection of these will work as an important process to establish overall security orders of East Asia. Thus, establishment of a multilateral security cooperation system is the most efficient security strategy to ensure the security of Korea.
