There is no general synthetic method for all substituted thiazoles in satisfactory yields. Existing methods for the thiazole synthesis are limited in their in thier scope in terms of low yields and longer reaction times. In present report, we have developed direct thiazole fomation reaction starting from ketones and dicarbonyl compounds. The procedure include a-sulfonyloxylation of ketones or dicarbonyl compounds under solventless microwave irradiation conditions. The reactions were fast and high yielding which makes this method an useful and alternative method for existing thiazole synthetic methods.
