압바스 시대 바이트 알 히크마(Bayt al-Ḥikmah) 연구 -번역원 기능과 천문대 기능의 상관성을 중심으로-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 아랍이슬람 역사 중 황금기로 평가되는 압바스 시대의 지혜의 전당(바이트 알 히크마)의 천문대 기능이 번역운동과 도서관 문화 확산의 촉진제 역할을 했음을 입증하고자 한다. 칼리파 알 만수르는 압바스 혁명에 기여한 페르시아인들의 지지를 확보하기 위해 그들의 고대 종교사상과 문화를 수용하며 번역정책을 추진했고, 그 핵심에는 점성학 서적의 번역이 포함되었다. 칼리파 알 마으문도 점성학에 큰 관심을 보였고 830년에 바이트 알 히크마에 천문대를 설치했다. 이후 바이트 알 히크마는 이슬람제국 전역으로 확산되었는데, 확산의 주요 요인에 천문대의 기능이 있었다. 즉 천문대는 번역운동과 도서관 기능을 발전시키는 촉진제 역할을 했음을 알 수 있다. 점성학의 발전은 과학과 이성의 학문인 천문학 발전으로 이어졌고, 이것은 수학과 지리학의 발전으로 이어지면서 제반 학문이 발전했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article tries to prove that the function of observatory of House of Wisdom(Bait al Hikma) was the accelerator of translation movement and diffusion of libraries in the Abbas era, the golden age of Arab islamic history. Khalifa al Mansur embraced Persian traditional religious thought and culture and propelled the policy of translation, which tranalation of the astrology was in the core of it, to secure the support of Persians who had participated in Abbas revolution. And khalifa al Mamun was also interested in the astrology, and built an observatory in House of Wisdom in 830. This institution was diffused in many places of the Islam empire, and the function of observatory was a main cause of it. The development of the astrology caused the development of the astronomy and the mathmatics and the gepgraphy and all kinds of sciences.
