This study conducted a systematic literature review to analyze the characteristics of robots, urban-robot interactions, and the meaning of compatibility that urban designers should understand for the coexistence of humans and robots in urban public spaces. The research focused on examining the concept, operation, autonomy of robots, their significance as urban technology, and their compatibility with the physical environment. The analysis revealed that robots are programmable machines capable of autonomous mission execution, potentially leading to cyborg urbanization by restructuring urban infrastructure and daily life. The interaction between cities and robots encompasses the relationships between robots and urban components such as human and social relationships, and the built environment. The compatibility between the physical environment and robots forms the foundation for these interactions. The study proposed that robot-compatible environments should possess characteristics such as safety, accessibility, and activity, and presented a framework to systematically review these aspects. In conclusion, the research emphasized that urban designers should recognize robots as urban technology and equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and perspectives for designing human-robot coexistence cities.
