The aim of this paper is to examine the antecedents of self-efficacy in the work environment. Several work experiences that exhibited enactive mastery, vicarious experience, verbal persuasion, and emotional arousal were presented as the antecedents of self-efficacy. The relationship between self-efficacy and hypothesized antecedents was tested in samples drawn from two Korean banks. The results show that self-efficacy is affected by job complexity, participatory management, role clarity, favorable training policies and practices, co-worker support, and job security concern.
