톈친신(田沁鑫)의 연극 <삶과 죽음의 자리 生死場> 연구 — 소외효과를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고에서는 톈친신(田沁鑫)의 연극 <삶과 죽음의 자리 生死場>를 브레히트 연극, 특히 소외효과와의 영향 관계 안에서 살펴본다. 브레히트의 서사극은 중국에서 신시기 초기에 큰 반향을 일으키며 중국 연극계에 수용된 바 있다. 이후 그 열기는 사그라졌지만 서사극 이론의 핵심이며, 관객을 비판적 사고로 이끄는 ‘소외효과’는 중국 현대의 실험적인 극에서 늘 고려해야 할 하나의 잣대가 되었다. 톈친신의 연극 <삶과 죽음의 자리>를 관통하는 ‘무감각한 삶으로부터의 해방’이라는 정신은 브레히트의 이론과 맥락을 같이하며 극의 구상과 내용에서부터 연출기법에 이르기까지 브레히트의 연극이론의 영향을 받았음을 알 수 있었다. 본고에서는 소설 <삶과 죽음의 자리>를 연극과 하나로 이어주는 ‘생명의 에너지’가 브레히트를 경유하여 표출되는 방식을 연극 <삶과 죽음의 자리> 초연 이후 토론과 연출가의 말을 통해 확인한다. 또한 브레히트의 이론 안에 흐르는 ‘인간 해방’이라는 정신적 에너지가 연극 <삶과 죽음의 자리>에 다양한 연출기법으로 운용됨을 밝히고, 이러한 기초 위에 톈친신의 민족적인 색채와 강렬한 표현 기법이 덧입혀져 극의 내용과 시각적, 청각적인 면에서 모두 강렬한 생명력을 드러내는 독특한 연극이 완성되었음을 고찰한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines Tian Qinxin’s play “A Place of Life and Death (生死場)” especially in its influence relationship with the alienation effect from the perspective of Brecht’s play. Brecht’s epic plays created a great sensation in the early days of the new period in China and were accepted by the Chinese play world. This is the core of the theory of epic drama, although the heat has since faded, and this ‘alienation effect’, which leads the audience to critical thinking, has become a standard to always consider in modern Chinese experimental plays. The spirit of ‘liberation from senseless life’ that runs through Tian Qinxin’s play “A Place of Life and Death” is in line with Brecht’s theory and from the conception and content of the play to the directing technique, it was found that she was influenced by Brecht’s play theory. In this study the way the ‘energy of life’ that connects the novel “A Place of Life and Death” with the play is expressed through Brecht is confirmed through discussion and the words of the director after the premiere of the play “A Place of Life and Death.” In addition, this study reveals that the mental energy of ‘human liberation’ flowing in Brecht’s theory is operated in various directing techniques in the play “A Place of Life and Death”, and on this basis, Tian Qinxin’s national colors and strong expression techniques are added to complete a unique play that reveals intense vitality in terms of content, visual, and auditory aspects of the play.
