The purpose of this study was to investigate the size of finish materials and bedrooms in order to minimize loss by applying Modular Coordination (MC). Basic information was sought in order to establish the size of rooms in a small-sized apartment for lower-cost housing. The research methods used in this study were analysis of construction documents, interview, and market survey.
The results indicate that it is difficult to standardize the inside dimensions of rooms because of housing structural differences but that standardization of the structure of high-rise apartments and applying a module to unit rooms would be useful. Especially, modular inside dimensions of rooms and the use of same measurement systems for planning and material size would reduce loss of finish materials, thereby lowering building costs.
