This paper focused on the acculturation and the meanings of Bullyeokkwaejae written by Jin Sheng-tan. This paper is basically based on the comparison between Jin Sheng-tan and Korean writers in late Chosun dynasty. The works and writers which selected for comparison is Jeong Yakyong, Baeksangnugi and Lee Ok. I`ve done the comparison in terms of their aesthetic tastes. Jeong Yakyong tried to change prose genre into poetry. And he emphasized his mental agony and release. Baeksangnugi was similar to Bullyeokkwaejae written by Jin Sheng-tan. But Baeksangnugi tended towards vulgar taste. This point make clear the difference between Baeksangnugi and Romance of the Western Bower. And Lee Ok borrowed the motive of Bullyeokkwaejae written by Jin Sheng-tan and put emphasis on his understanding of literature as the amusements. I believe that analyzing the acculturation and the meanings of Bullyeokkwaejae can contribute to understanding the literature history of the late Chosun dynasty. Also, I expect that this kind of approaching the difference between writers in Ming-Ching and Chosun could play a role in creating another methodology to analyze literatures.
