Today, it is found that the existence of unknown factors, which threatening the urban people's lives and the security of the people due to over development, infiltrate into our daily necessities and living environment. Besides, with the growing number of single-person households and social consumption trends that emerge as major consumers, the self-interior has become popular due to the increasing desire to decorate their own space. Based on the background that urban people are familiar with online shopping especially with mobile device. This study focused on customized service targeting the one-person households with service design methodology. The contents of the study are summarized as follows.
First, in the Discover stage, people's interest in eco-friendly products is continuously increasing through Desk Research, and it is confirmed that consumption of self-interior related goods is increasing as single-person households increases. This is a trend not only in Korea but worldwide, and the research found that marketing and product development for single-person households is now an essential element for companies. In addition, rental services are now expanding to consumer - oriented consumer goods, not just water purifiers and automobiles. Therefore, indoor plants are also applicable as rental services. And with the introduction of easy mobile payment system, mobile shopping market which has been continuously growing has been increasing steadily, and mobile platform that can be used easily and quickly anytime and anywhere has been chosen as shopping channel.
In the second Define stage, based on the results of previous case studies, the problems of existing services are defined, and then through the Cultural Probes, a service design methodology, and in-depth interviews, the study could find needs of people in their 20s and 30s. They wanted to be a place where the house could be rested and healed, and there was interest in indoor plants but not in management. They preferred easy mobile shopping and confirmed that they were already familiar shopping channels. In addition, the interest in air purifying plants and the preference for cacti and succulent plants increased.
Third, in the stage of Develop, the design issues defined based on the results of the previous survey method in order to present the main strategies and goals of the proposed service. The 'Urban Green', a plant rental service proposed in this study, induces a natural approach to eco-friendly lifestyles, thereby preventing waste of plant products through customized plant curating system, and also providing a rental service with green design. Therefore, this service built a system that enables continuous product circulation through plant rental, and intend to increase the service re-use rate by raising the satisfaction level of customers through post purchase management service. In addition, by sending a blank plant pots to a courier (Greenman) at the time of the plant delivery visit, the system was refunded to the green point after confirmation, thereby promoting donation to environmental groups and enabling good consumption for the environment.
Finally, in the Deliver phase, the study created a mobile screen process to enable service simulation, and made it easier to understand how a concrete service process is accomplished through visualization. Through the service scenario based on this prototype, the study have drawn the situation, background, and psychological situation that a virtual person is experiencing while using a service.
This study aims to provide rational consumption methods for young people according to social environmental issues and consumption trends of single households, to find ways to apply customized services through user-oriented research through service design methodology, It is significant to encourage interest and encourage good consumption through virtuous cycles of products.
Moreover, through the Urban Green plant rental service, all newly created service models and entrepreneurial items will allow access to service design preliminary research and user analysis, This study would like to present what direction we should follow and hope to establish what important value the company should engrave.
