This study empirically tested the influence relationship between entrepreneurship, startup opportunity recognition, startup efficacy, and startup will, as well as the mediating effect of startup opportunity awareness and startup efficacy, targeting processing farmers. To achieve the study’s purpose, 225 processing and production farmers who received integrated training in the 2023 Wanju-gun local food processed food field held at the Wanju-gun Agricultural Technology Center in Jeollabuk-do mediated the influence of farmer entrepreneurship on the will to start a business, recognition of start-up opportunity, and start-up efficacy. Multiple regression analysis and hierarchical regression analyses were performed to verify the impact of this. As a result, first, the innovativeness, risk-taking, self-direction, and desire for achievement of farmers’ entrepreneurship were found to have a significant effect on the will to start a business, but it was confirmed that enterprisingness did not have an effect on the will to start a business. The examination of the mediating effect of efficacy indicated that there was a significant partial mediating effect. Based on these results, various strategies are required to strengthen the will to start a business so that processing farmers can seize start-up opportunities, challenge new businesses, and increase start-up efficacy, which can lead to actual start-up behavior.
